Standing up a sideways scanStraightening a sideways scan
Feed a stack of paper through an all-in-one scanner and a few sheets almost always come out sideways. Rotating the view in your PDF reader fixes it for you, right then — send the file as is and the person receiving it has to tilt their head too. Fix the rotation stored inside the PDF and it stands up correctly on every device.
This tool changes the rotation value saved with each page. It doesn’t redraw anything — it edits only the note that says “show this page turned 90 degrees”, which means quality is untouched and the job finishes instantly.

How to use it
- Pick your PDF.
- Choose a direction. 90° right is clockwise; 90° left is counter-clockwise.
- To rotate only part of the file, type the page numbers. 2, 5-7 You can mix commas and hyphens like that. Leave it empty and every page is rotated.
- Press Rotate, then download.
Rotate PDF: good to know
- Pages that already carried a rotation value add to what was already there. Rotate a page saved at 90 degrees by another 90 and you end up at 180.
- If the result came out backwards, don’t stack another turn on top — go back to the original and pick the opposite direction instead.
- Text, tables and links all survive. Rotation changes only how the page is displayed.
- Password-protected PDFs won’t open.
Common questions
I made a PDF from phone photos and they came out sideways. That happens when the orientation data was dropped at the photo stage. Rotating the pages here and saving fixes it. If you haven’t built the PDF yet, use Image to PDFfirst.
I rotated a few pages but everything turned. An empty page box means every page. To rotate only certain pages, you have to type their numbers.
Feeding a stack through a scanner often leaves a few pages on their side. Rotating the view in a reader only helps you; the person you send it to still has to tilt their head. Fixing the rotation stored in the PDF makes it open upright everywhere.
This tool changes the rotation value stored on each page. It does not redraw anything, so quality is untouched and the job finishes instantly.
How to use it
- Choose a PDF.
- Pick a direction. Right 90° is clockwise, left 90° is counter clockwise.
- To rotate only some pages, list them. You can mix commas and dashes, such as 2, 5-7. Leave it empty for every page.
- Press Rotate and download the result.
Worth knowing
- Rotation adds to whatever the page already had. A page stored at 90° rotated by another 90° ends up at 180°.
- If the result went the wrong way, go back to the original and pick the other direction rather than adding 180°.
- Text, tables and links survive. Rotation only changes how the page is presented.
- Password protected PDFs will not open.
Common questions
My phone photo became a sideways PDF. The orientation tag was dropped when the PDF was made. Rotate it here. If you have not made the PDF yet, use Image to PDF instead.
I only wanted two pages rotated but everything changed. An empty page box means every page. List the numbers to limit it.
