How to approach it

Number series

Try differences, ratios, Fibonacci — work through the usual rules one by one.

Verbal · maths

For verbal items, name the relationship between the two words first. For maths, go for the concept rather than the arithmetic.

Logic

Work only from what you are given. Set intuition aside.

About this test

A general brain test that draws in equal measure from six areas: number series, shape patterns, verbal analogy, applied maths, logic and spatial reasoning.

This is for interest and self-assessment. It is not a substitute for a clinical IQ assessment.

Q. How is the score worked out?
A raw score is built from how many you got right and how long you took, then mapped onto a normal distribution with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15.
Q. What happens if I run out of time?
The test submits itself after fifteen minutes. Anything unanswered counts as wrong.
Q. What is a verbal analogy question?
You are shown a pair such as doctor : hospital = teacher : ? and asked to work out the relationship and fill the blank.
