  • 2 tbsp Korean chili paste (gochujang)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • Black pepper to taste

  • Boiled egg (for topping)




1-2. Cooking Instructions

Step 1. Prepare the ingredients

Rinse the tteok (rice cakes) under cold water and drain. Cut the fish cakes into triangles. Slice the green onion into

large chunks.

Step 2. Make the base broth

In a pot, layer green onion on the bottom, then add the fish cakes on top. Pour in 600ml water. Add 1 tbsp sugar,

1/3 tbsp coarse salt, and 1/2 tbsp minced garlic. Bring to a boil on high heat for 2 minutes.

Step 3. Add rice cakes & simmer

Add the rice cakes to the pot, cover, and let boil for another 1–2 minutes.

Then, reduce to low heat and stir in all the sauce ingredients. Simmer for 4–5 minutes until the sauce thickens

and coats the ingredients well.

Step 4. Optional finishing touch

Add a boiled egg on top for extra richness. Stir gently and serve hot.

Adjust the Sauce Amount

Do not add all of the sauce at once. For 500g of rice cakes (tteok), use about 1 tablespoon of sauce.

For 250g of rice cakes, use about 0.5 tablespoon. You can reserve the remaining sauce and add it later to adjust

the flavor to your preference.

Adjust Spice Level for Kids


If you are cooking for children or prefer a milder taste, be sure to adjust the amount of chili flakes (gochugaru)

and chili paste (gochujang). Feel free to reduce the quantity to make it more kid-friendly.
